Shinya, drummer of LUNA SEA, has passed away

Shinya (真矢) of LUNA SEA has passed away at age 56.

It was announced today that he passed away on February 17th at 18:16.

Shinya was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in 2020, and in 2025 was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Although he underwent several surgeries and rounds of treatment, he unfortunately passed away this month.

A funeral was held with close relatives per the wishes of the family. A public event for mourners is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
