YOSHIKI To Resume Playing Drums Next Month

X JAPAN's leader YOSHIKI will be playing the drums again starting in April.
Last May, YOSHIKI had to undergo emergency spinal surgery to replace a herniated disc. He had previously been diagnosed with cervical foraminal stenosis, and had begun experiencing numbness and paralysis in his left arm.
Since the surgery, YOSHIKI has been unable to be a drummer. Doctors warned that he needed rest his body post surgery, and playing drums would be too intense for his body. The band has been performing acoustic concerts with YOSHIKI on the piano since then.
On March 8, YOSHIKI held a broadcast on his Nico Nico page announcing his return to the drums. A video was later posted to YouTube announcing the same.

YOSHIKI first teased his impending return as a drummer during the 2017 year-end program "Kohaku Uta Gassen". He started the band's performance on the piano, but briefly played the drums as well.
In addition to his return as a drummer, YOSHIKI also announced that X JAPAN will be holding concerts in Tokyo at Zepp DiverCity on April 10 and 11. Afterwards, the band will be traveling to California to perform at the music festival Coachella.
