YOSHIKI Stable And Recovering Following Spinal Surgery

X Japan member YOSHIKI has successfully undergone surgery to replace a herniated disc in his spine.
The surgery occurred on May 16 at a hospital in Los Angeles. The operation required delicate work that spanned several hours.
With the surgery completed, YOSHIKI is said to be in stable condition. Doctors say that he will be partially healed in 6 weeks, and 90% recovered in 6 months. The amount of time it will take for the pain he had been experiencing to dissipate is uncertain.
YOSHIKI was advised to remain in the hospital for a few days after his operation was completed; however, hours after regaining consciousness, he decided to leave, opting to continue work on X Japan's album instead.
After returning to the studio, Yoshiki was able to work for approximately 30 minutes before he was physically unable to continue. He returned to his house, accompanied by his staff, where he is under the care of a nurse and doctor.
X Japan is scheduled to release its long-awaited comeback album later this year. The comeback album was supposed to be released in 2016, but was ultimately postponed after guitarist PATA was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition that forced the band to go on hiatus. Its last studio album "Dahlia" was released on November 4, 1996.
YOSHIKI was diagnosed with cervical foraminal stenosis in July of 2009 and has undergone surgery in the past to correct it. However, a herniated disc has worsened in the past 6 months, causing numbness and even paralysis in his left arm and hand.
Last week, it was determined that YOSHIKI would need to undergo emergency surgery, otherwise permanent nerve damage could occur. YOSHIKI was said to be in considerable pain and had been for months, according to doctors' assessment of his his MRI and CT scans.
