MIYAVI steps into his role as an actor again, starting with a cameo in the latest King Kong movie (released on March 10th in the US, out on March 25th in Japan). Kong: Skull Island stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, and Brie Larson, and is directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, a self-proclaimed lover of Japan. MIYAVI appears near the beginning of the movie in an important, action-filled scene. This is his second appearance in a Hollywood movie, after the Angelina Jolie-directed Unbroken, which came out last year.
While MIYAVI is already very well-known for his guitar skills, he seems to be on the road to making a name for himself as an actor. His third movie appearance will be in the movie Stray, directed by Joe Sill. Touted as an action thriller, MIYAVI plays a mysterious character clad all in black named Jin. Stray will come out later this year.
As for working on Kong, MIYAVI said it was an honor to be able to work with the likes of actors Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly. "I'm happy that I've been able to work with Jordan," MIYAVI has also said. "I'm so happy I can be a part of this. I really hope the fans will enjoy this new version of a historic piece of cinema."
